Omer Bunn enrolled in Marshall College until 1942 when he joined the Army during World War II. Bunn served across Europe as a surgical technician. After the end of the war, Bunn returned to West Virginia and started in the mining industry. Bunn had several mining operations in West Virginia located in, Wayne County (first mine, Five Block Coal Company), Logan County, Boone County, Mingo County, Nicholas County, Southwest Virginia and Eastern Kentucky. Mr. Bunn has served in various civic and governmental positions, including serving two terms on the Board of Commissioners for the Virginia Port Authority during the 1980's and early 1990's.
