Jimmy Brock is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. Brock is the chief operating officer-coal for CONSOL Energy Inc., and serves as chief executive officer of CNX Coal Resources, LP. He has worked in the coal industry for 36 years, all as an employee of CONSOL Energy. Brock began his mining career in 1979 as a summer student at CONSOL's Matthews Mine in Tennessee. When CONSOL acquired Island Creek Coal Company, he transferred to VP8 as a shift foreman, and was later promoted to longwall coordinator at that mine. He was promoted and transferred in 1997 to mine foreman at the Mill Creek operation in Kentucky. In June of 1998, Brock was promoted to assistant superintendent and subsequently superintendent at CONSOL's Humphrey Mine at the Northern West Virginia Operations. He also served as superintendent at the Dilworth and Robinson Run Mines. He was named vice president of the Northern West Virginia Operations in 2005 and was promoted to senior vice president of CONSOL's Northern Appalachia Operations in 2007. During his tenure in Morgantown, West Virginia, he was instrumental in bringing diesel equipment underground in West Virginia. Brock was named chief operating officer-coal in 2010 and was appointed chief executive officer and director of CNX Coal Resources in March 2015. Brock currently serves as the chairman of the West Virginia Coal Association Board of Directors, serves on the West Virginia Coal Association Executive Committee, and is on the Board of Directors of the West Virginia Coal Mining Institute. He also serves on the National Mining Association Board of Directors. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Utah Coal Association and served as a voting member of the Utah Mine Safety Technical Advisory Council. Brock was voted the 2010 Coal Safety Leader of the Year by the West Virginia State Council.
