Frank L. Gaddy graduated from Virginia Tech and served in the military. Gaddy began working for Warner Collieries Company where he worked as an engineer for the construction of the Emily Mine. He later became a health and safety engineer for the U.S. Bureau of Mines. Throughout the 1950s, he fought mine fires, investigated fatalities and helped reduce the death toll in mines. Gaddy joined the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company as a mining engineer in Huntington, West Virginia. In 1968, Gabby started his own venture, the Gaddy Engineering Company, specializing in property management and coal consulting. Gaddy's professional memberships include: Huntington Chapter of the West Virginia Society of Professional Engineers, West Virginia Society of Professional Engineer, Society of Professional Engineers, Professional Engineers in Private Practice, American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, Petroleum Engineers, American Mining Congress, West Virginia Coal Mining Institute.
