D. Stephen Walker

D. Stephen Walker served in the West Virginia National Guard and the United States Army Reserve. He joined the family business of Cecil I. Walker Machinery in 1971. Cecil Walker, Steve's father was chief executive officer and his brother, Dick, was vice president. Walker worked in sales, marketing and administration until 1983 when he became president and chief operating officer. He remained in that position for 27 years, 2010, when the business was sold to Boyd Machinery. During this 27 year period the company added four locations and increased its revenue sixfold and doubled its employee number to nearly 800. Walker served on the Board of the West Virginia Surface Mine Association and on the Board and Executive Committee of the West Virginia Coal Association.
